Marc M Cogman drops new LP on Friday June 4 - Daughters and Sons
At home in Utah for the covid summer of 2019, Cogman found inspiration in a surprising and happy development in his personal life: the news that he was a father. While it wasn’t the typical parenthood story, it still inspired him to crank out another group of songs, and just six months after the release of his sixth album, he was back in the studio to record his seventh.
Daughters and Sons was recorded at Oakland’s Tiny Telephone and Boston’s Revival House, and marks yet another chapter in Cogman’s ever-evolving sound - from vintage synth sounds from Mark Clifford, and a lush string-section featuring Shawn Alpay’s cello and violins by Bengisu Gokce, to the reliable snarl of Steve McDonald’s electric guitar. However, Cogman’s voice and lyrics are, as always, the star on these eight new tracks. Daughters and Sons drops on June 4, 2021 on digital retailers everywhere, and on limited edition vinyl from Last 3 Punks Records.
Daughters and Sons was produced by Shawn Alpay and Pat Hanlin and was mixed by J.D. Andrew.
